I loved the article in the new "House of Fifty" magazine on decorating when your renting. Have I mentioned that in nearly 10 years of marriage we have moved over 19 times??.. So being a renter has been the "norm" for me. I can't help but try and make the place we are living in feel a little bit like home. (*Even though my husband may have not approved, or seen the importance since usually we were there for an 8 or 9 month season*) This article gives great tips on what things give the most impact and bang for your buck when your renting, and you can't always change the horrid carpet, cupboards, countertops or whatever it may be.. (currently it's carpet and countertops for us)

I think the most fun I had was decorating a rental was a vintage house we lived in, in Pau, France. It was king Henry the VIII's nanny's home. It had so much charm, slanted ceilings, wood floors, huge trees. I had fun painting the shutters from cream to black, planting the flower boxes, painted all the furniture inside, hung hand-made wooden chandeliers.. I wish I had more pics of the inside..
Here is a picture of the exterior...
